How to use the WWALK lab computer (aka George)

George is a lab computer that lives on the University of Calgary campus. It is a relatively powerful computer, so if you have tasks that demand a high computational load, it may be a good idea to run them on George and save yourself some time.

George’s specs:

• RAM: 32GB

• CPU: 8 cores

• Memory: ~ 1.4 TB of storage

If you are in person, you can access George directly. Sign-in details are located here.

If you are working from home, remote connection is possible through RustDesk. You will need to install RuskDesk first, and then can access it via its “computer ID”, located here.

Important: Multiple people can log on to George at the same time. If you are running something on George, post in the lab Zulip to let others know that it is unavailable for the next few hours/day (UofC Things -> George).
